At the Branch of the National Center of Expertise of the KKBTU Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Akmola region, during a study, an excess of nitrate content was detected in vegetables and fruits.
For the 1st half of 2020 out of 1,591 samples of agricultural plants, the laboratory identified 32 positive results. According to experts, the most positive results for nitrate content were found in beets, onions, pears and tangerines.
The nitrate content in beets at an acceptable level of no more than 1400 mg/kg was 1413 mg/kg (1-fold increase). The indicator for onions reached 90 mg/kg (1.12 times higher), in pear the indicator was 70 mg/kg (1.16 times higher), and the tangerine indicator was 71 mg/kg (1.18 times higher).
It should be noted that the group at increased risk of damage to the body by nitrate compounds includes young children, people suffering from diseases of the cardiovascular and respiratory systems, pregnant women, elderly people who, without exposure to salts of nitric or nitrous acid, have insufficient oxygen supply to organs and tissues .
In addition, an increased amount of nitrates disrupts metabolism, weakens the immune system, the nervous system, and with the regular intake of nitrates in the body, the amount of iodine decreases.
