The Astana branch of the National Center for Expertise held an introductory training session for second-year students majoring in "Preventive Medicine" at Astana Medical University. The future specialists had the opportunity to see the laboratory service from the inside and gain practical experience with sanitary and epidemiological safety mechanisms.
The practical portion took place in the bacteriology laboratory. Students were introduced to the department's structure, the organization of the production process, biological safety requirements, and the rules for working with pathogenic microorganisms. Under the guidance of experienced specialists, they studied the stages of receiving and registering material, mastered the basic principles of inoculation on nutrient media, observed incubation and monitoring of microorganism growth, and learned about bacterial identification methods and the procedures for maintaining laboratory documentation in accordance with quality standards.
The training program also included a visit to the sanitary and hygienic laboratory. Here, students were introduced to the department's activities, ranging from food and non-food product testing to environmental analysis, including water and atmospheric air. Specialists demonstrated modern testing and high-precision equipment, as well as rapid instruments used in daily practice. Special attention was paid to the regulatory framework governing sanitary and hygienic testing.
Such practical exercises allow future physicians not only to reinforce their theoretical knowledge but also to gain a real-world understanding of laboratory work, an important step in their professional development.
As a reminder, a memorandum of cooperation was previously signed between the National Center for Expertise, a state enterprise with the Right of Economic Management, and the Astana Medical University. The document provides for the development of partnerships and the implementation of joint projects in science, education, and the training of qualified personnel for the healthcare system.
